Kitchen cabinets don’t only serve as vital storage, but they also take up the most real estate part in your kitchen. This means they take a significant role in determining the overall look of your space.

The best kitchen cabinets are those that can impeccably represent your taste and style and at the same time, maintain functionality. Below are three kitchen cabinets you can’t do without:

Base Cabinets

Base cabinets serve as the footprint of your floor plan and take up most of your daily kitchen work. These cabinets, which are mounted on the floor, support the countertop. Kitchen islands are erected from the base cabinets and installed on site.

Wall Cabinets

Wall cabinets are mounted on the wall. Of all the kitchen cabinets, this type has the most flexibility when it comes to design: glass door options, different heights and custom depths. The sole purpose of wall cabinets is to offer storage space.

Wall cabinets offer storage primarily for:

  • Food: Foods that are needed instantly are stored in wall cabinets since they can be accessed easily. Other food items that aren’t that used often like flour, oatmeal, sugar, etc. are normally stored in lower cabinets or tall units such as pantries.

  • Plates, Glasses: Tableware that are utilized every day is stored in wall cabinets.

  • Fine Items: Since wall cabinets are closed, they are great places to store fine, fragile and costly items, which require protection.

  • Some Cooking Gear: Light cooking apparatus such as measuring cups are also kept in wall cabinets.

Due to the cabinets’ elevation, they are not advisable for storing heavy food items or heavy cooking tools and appliances.

Pantry/Utility Tall Cabinets

A huge utility cabinet or pantry can be extended from the floor up to the ceiling. It can offer a maximum of four cubic feet of storage as compared to a base and wall cabinet in the same space. As a pantry, it offers as storage space for almost everything, from small cooking tools and appliances to canned goods. The utility cabinet can also be used to fit microwaves and built-in ovens.
